TOWARDS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF
A GOOD FRIEND
Introduction: A friend is a person,
whom one knows, likes and has a bond of mutual affection, typically one exclusive
of sexual or family relations. Friendship is a relationship of mutual
affection, trust and loyalty between two or more people.
TYPES OF FRIENDSHIP:
(a)
Agentic friendship: In an agentic
friendship both parties look to each other for help in achieving a particular
goal, in their personal and professional lives. It may help for completing
projects, studying for exam. e.t.c.
(b)
Best Friend: These are friends who
have extremely interpersonal ties with each other.
(c)
Casual friendship (or hook-up):
this term denotes a sexual or near sexual relationship between two people who
do not expect or demand a formal romantic relationship
(d)
Communal Friendship: this is a
friendship in which friends gather often to provide encouragement and emotional
support in times of great need.
(e)
Pen pal: pen pals are people who
have a relationship primarily through mail correspondence. They may not have
met each other in person. In modern times, internet relations have largely
replaced pen pals,
Characteristics of Good Friends
Having good friends is
really important to your happiness. The bester quality relationship you have,
the more likely you are to be happy. Therefore, it is good for your happiness
to best a great friend to others.
Common signs of a good
friend include:
