Premier League top scorers: Golden Boot race standings for 2020/21

The 2020/21 Premier League season is finally under way and the Golden Boot race has some early frontrunners.

Jamie Vardy is the defending champion, and he got off to a flying at the weekend, notching two penalties against newly-promoted West Brom. The Foxes forward beat Danny Ings and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Golden Boot last season with 23 goals for Leicester City, and he is off the mark already.

Alongside Vardy, Ings and Aubameyang — who also picked up his first of the campaign against Fulham — there are likely to be the usual suspects vying for the Golden Boot this term, including Mohamed Salah, who bagged an opening-day hat-trick against Leeds on Saturday night.

The Premier League also welcomes some new signings who will be looking to break into the Golden Boot race, including Chelsea striker Timo Werner. The German finished second behind Robert Lewandowski in the Bundesliga’s Torjägerkanone standings last term, with an impressive 28 goals in 34 games. Aston Villa have also added Ollie Watkins to their attack while Callum Wilson returned to the Premier League with a goal against West Ham for Newcastle.

There are also the likes of Leeds’ new boy Rodrigo, Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Hal Robson-Kanu of West Brom who will be looking to score the goals for the newly-promoted sides.
